A French Christmas Festival is coming to Sydney this winter
Part of the Bastille Festival, The Rocks will turn into a fairy giant French-style Christmas Village from the 11th to the 14th of July.
With 250 000 attendees over four days in The Rocks last year and high expectations, the Bastille team has decided to take this to the next level in 2019! We’re doubling the number of chalets – Making it 25 authentic wooden chalets, imported straight from Europe.
French Magic will be at work with snowfalls machines, Christmas pines, boosted decorations, fairy lightning, fresh-made gingerbread house, Christmas carolers and authentic French winter food: saucisson, foie gras and crepes for a unique fairy feel!
Last but not least, Club Med brings on an Alpine ski Village: A Mini-Ice skating Rink, French mountain food by Frenchies Bistro, mulled wine, snow and old ski racks. Beware the avalanche!
New for 2019, Club Med is bringing the magical Ski Village vibe from their French resorts to the Rocks, and they’ve got something for everyone. A true alpine skiing atmosphere for grown-ups with snow and vintage ski racks, melting cheese and mulled wine. And if this turns into a family trip, they’ve got you covered in true Club Med-style with a free-entry mini ice skating rink, which is exclusively for the kids.
Complementing these new experiences throughout The Rocks, you’ll still find the traditional French Christmas spirit filling the air, together with the scent of freshly-baked gingerbread, hot mulled wine, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, and Christmas pine trees scattered throughout the entire Christmas Village. The local tenants will also be joining the party with a giant Christmas log to be created by La Renaissance or a secret ginger beer bar hidden in The Rocks… Will you be able to find it?
Let’s not forget the atmospheric soft glow from the twinkling fairy lights hanging overhead; or the sound of live Christmas carollers singing all the Christmas hits in French and English; artificial snow falling from the sky, and maybe even a surprise visit from the big man himself – Santa Claus ( Papa Noël in French)!
