Sydney’s $2.2 Billion inner city tram project, a year over schedule and a half billion over budget, has finally arrived.

Overnight, Sydney trams began to be tested from Randwick through to Central Station in Surry Hills.

The team test overnight was successful, with the light rail finally looking like it’s ready for use.

The teams that ran overnight went though a tunnel constructed under Sydney’s Moore Park and under Anzac Parade through to Surry Hills.

The project is costing taxpayers $2.2 billion with massive cost blowouts due to poor planning issues.

The project was due to be complete by the middle of 2018 however has below out by over a year.

Overhear powerlines driving the trams are live and firing from this point on.

Sydney media covering the project tests said the final cost could blow out to $3 billon.

The 12km project from Randwick to Circular Quay has been a political disaster for NSW and has resulted in small businesses being forced to shut down as well as investor rush on some suburbs anticipating property demand once the project has finished.

Services won’t start fully until December 2019.

Sydney has an extensive tram network up until the 1960s however was ripped out when the motor vehicle became the popular mode of transport.
