Canberra Bushfire: Images from Aircraft Passenger

An extraordinary image showing the scale of the massive bushfire burning near Canberra, Australia’s capital city.

A passenger flying to Sydney from Melbourne took an extraordinary photograph showing the massive scale of the bushfire below.

Student Clark Donovan shared the images on Saturday night taken during the flight between the major Australia cities of Sydney and Melbourne.

The images shows a glowing and growing area of bush land on fire and smouldering as it nears the city of Canberra.

“Crazy to see the #CanberraFires moving closer to the city on my flight back last night from Melbourne. Hope everyone stays safe during these hard times,” he wrote.

Photos from another airline traveller showed huge plumes of smoke Over the city on Sunday.

Meanwhile a total fire ban has been extended for the ACT until midnight on Monday.

Fire danger rating is SEVERE for the ACT on Monday.

ORRORAL VALLEY fire is currently burning at WATCH&ACT.

CLEAR RANGE fire is currently burning at WATCH&ACT.

The ACT has been battling the fires for days. Conditions have eased however the fire can flare up at any time.

Canberra has been experiencing a very hot heatwave with multiple days above 40C.
