Harvey Norman Coronavirus Sign

Harvey Norman Coronavirus Sign

Harvey Norman Coronavirus sign reaction: A racist sign outside a durable goods store.

Harvey Norman is facing a furious backlash after one of its stores posted a sign suggesting their products were Coronavirus free because they had been made in Australia and not China.

“No corona virus in our mattresses” the sign said.

“As ours are Australian made!”

A image of the sign was posted to Twitter Saturday morning February 8 by Michael Ryan, outside the Albury, New South Wales store.

It took a call from Harvey Norman management to the store for it to be removed from the street outside.

The Harvey Norman corporate account released a statement a few hours after the tweet was posted:

Statement in relation to signage @ HN Albury. Albury franchisee acted in isolation without any consultation or communication beyond their store. As soon as the company was made aware, the sign was immediately removed and the franchisee told this was unacceptable. Our apologies.

Many were still unhappy with people calling for the franchise owner to be punished.

Store staff and management at the Albury Harvey Norman were asked by media to comment.
