Two Hungry Bears takes out the number one spot for variety with their gigantic burger menu. Broken into three sections of Simple Stacks, Classic Stacks, and Fan Favourites there is something for absolutely everyone. Located in Sydney’s Northern Beaches they’ve made huge waves all over the city as one of the best places to get a fat burger from. Our top pick? Ume Burgers
Ume Burgers is the sister store of Japanese Sydney hotspot Bar Ume.
This burger joint has waterfront views and signature burgers that will have you worshipping their head chef Kerby Craig, who is the brains behind their carefully curated menu. Kitted out with Japanese beers on tap and subtle Japanese-inspired menu selections this spot is somewhere you shouldn’t miss when on the hunt for a burger with a twist. Their ‘Menchi Pork Katsu Burger’ is famous throughout Sydney and is our number one recommendation to try.

Slims Quality Burgers
Slims is all about the simple pleasures in life. Burgers, chips, and milkshakes are their jam.
Taking inspiration from the 50s and 60s their burgers are simple, easy, and delicious. They’ve brought it back to basics by discarding the very common added extras that are usually available on most menus these days. Their mantra is quality over quantity. Always.

Hidden amidst the hardware shops of Brookvale lies this American-style burger spot that has a wonderfully messy range of delicious burgers to choose from.
Located in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, make your way up on a Wednesday for their $10 burger special with any drink special. We can’t stop thinking about their Chilli Burger that consist of free-range grass-fed beef, cheese, iceberg lettuce, pickles, OBC hot sauce and pickled jalapenos…

Bettys Burgers
Betty’s Burgers is quickly becoming one of Australia’s most popular burger chains.
With over 39 stores across the country, it’s easy to see why this small burger spot from Noosa has quickly taken over. Sydney is home to three different Bettys locations, all serving up the beautiful burgers that have made them so famous. For the vegan lovers, they have just added a new Betty’s Classic Plant which is an exact replica of their Bettys Classic burger.

Burger Head
After working in Sydney’s fine dining scene for years three young guns Richard Borg, Timothy Rosenstrauss, and Joshua DeLuca came together to open Burger Head and bring a great burger spot to their home in Sydney’s Western Suburbs.
Their menu is short and sweet with three beef burgers, two chicken, and one veggie option to choose from. ‘The Americana’ seems to be all the rage for obvious reasons with a smashed Angus beef patty, cheese, pulled BBQ brisket, grilled onion and mustard mayo. Could it get much better?

You’ll more than likely find a Burgers Anonymous very close to home with seven different locations spread across Sydney.
This hip Sydney chain is sure to be one of your new local go-to’s with a menu has something for everyone from the classics to the ‘Arnold Slawzenegger’, a comical yet delicious burger combining southern fried chicken, cheese, slaw, jalapenos and sriracha mayo.

Bonditony’s Burger Joint
This family-owned, rock and roll inspired burger spot on the shores of Bondi is the ultimate vibe.
Tony Gosden, the brains behind it all, had worked in the Australian music industry for over a decade and wanted a way to combine his love for burgers with his love for music. This is how Bonditony was born, a true ode to Tony’s rock and roll days along with heavenly burger options. We’d recommend their ‘Trippen Zeahorse’. It’s a true classic, but it is one of the best things you’ll ever taste.

Soul Burger
This spot is for our vegan readers.
Soul Burger is Sydney’s first ever completely plant-based burger chain, so if you’re a lifelong vegan or just trying to cut down on your animal intake then this is the place for you. Its mission is to change the concept around the idea of a burger and create plant-based, healthy options that taste just as good if not better than the original.
Their epic Sydney Sider burger has to be next on your burger hitlist, boasting a plant-based beef patty, plant-based cheese, egg and bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and house made relish.

Wing Shack
As the name suggests, chicken is the main focus at this American inspired burger shack.
If you love a crispy chicken burger more than the average person you might want to check this place out next time you have a burger craving. Grab their Nashville Spicy if you’re really in the mood to live it up. The monster of a burger has a whole chicken breast fillet basted with their famous spicy-sweet cayenne-butter paste, creamy hollandaise sauce, housemade slaw, and cooling ranch sauce.

Burger Hood
After the owners of this ever-popular Sydney burger spot ate their way through the west coast of the US trying different burgers they settled back in Sydney to open the doors of Burger Hood in 2018.
Inspired by the likes of US burger giants In-N-Out, Shake Shack, and Five guys they have taken Sydney by storm producing burgers that hadn’t been seen before. A pro tip, if you dine in when eating you get access to free soft serves all night.

Bar Luca
With a constant line out the door and tables booked out for weeks in advance Bar Luca is easily one of Sydney’s most famous burger spots.
Their mouth watering extensive menu explains why. The Mac Daddy burger is a delicious combo of a double beef patty, double cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions, and BL sauce on a triple BL bun. We can’t talk it up enough, if you haven’t tried out this place yet you’re missing out!

We’ve saved the best of the best until last.
We have to thank Mary’s for the burger scene that Sydney has today, as it was them who shaped the industry in the city for years, inspiring many of the places that have been mentioned above.
To put it simply, when it comes to burgers in Sydney, there are two categories: Before Mary’s and after Mary’s. Their burger menu is simple but lacks nothing in the flavour department. Their famous Mary’s Burger is a staple classic made up of beef, cheese, tomato, onion, lettuce, and their house made Mary’s sauce. We’re not sure what you’ve been up to if you haven’t been here yet.
